This is a collection of World of Warcraft movies I made during 2005-2006 when I was a member of the guild "The Enigma Order" on EU-Stormreaver. The videos below show our raid progress in chronological order from Molten Core to Naxxramas. There are also a couple of non-raid videos further below.![Hello](xzar.jpg)
TEO_AMoltenCore
DESCRIPTION:
This was my first World of Warcraft video. I was inspired to start making videos of our raids after seeing a video of one of our early Molten Core raids posted by former guild member Zetaphax. I began frapsing our runs back when we had the first eight bosses on farm and continued recording raids for many weeks as we got Majordomo Executus on farm status and practiced on Ragnaros. The first eight boss kills in the video are from the same run. The Majordomo kill was from a run where we had very heavy lag (as usual) and struggled for a very long time before we finally got him down in a not-so-pretty way. I think the Ragnaros kill was our third and one of the more intense kills as a server restart was announced just as we were about to start.
The movie intro is a tribute to the opening sequence of "A Clockwork Orange" by Stanley Kubrick. The voices on teamspeak during the Ragnaros kill was actually from our first kill. Another guild member posted a sound file on our forum after that kill and I added it to my frapsed footage of the third kill.

TEO_Razorgore
DESCRIPTION:
After clearing Molten Core we started venturing into Blackwing Lair and practicing on Razorgore. I remember being overwhelmed by how complex the Razorgore fight was compared to anything we had tried in Molten Core. Endless adds where we had to learn how to single out and kill casters while letting warriors pick up and kite melee adds. And on top of that we had to learn how to remote control Razorgore around, while keeping adds off these people, and finally someone (usually Denatus) had to run between platforms and kite the larger adds. The beginning pull had to be perfect and Razorgore had to be placed perfectly before phase two as well or people would be burned to death. And this was the first boss in the instance!
Well, we finally got him down in early december. Unfortunately I died early in phase two of the fight, and to me it looked like a wipe, so I stopped frapsing. This was a big mistake as the surviving members of the raid got the fight under control resulting in a fine first kill. I remember keeping my fingers crossed each time we killed Razorgore hoping "Mantle of the Blackwing Cabal" would drop and that Cryonic would have fewer dkp than me if it did :)

DESCRIPTION:
Soon after the first Razorgore kill there was a long raid break during christmas. I remember some people being frustrated because of lack of raids and for a while it did feel like all progress had halted. Fortunately this changed when we got two new guildmembers, Chaelot and Mystic. They came from the guild "Sheep", who had already cleared all of Blackwing Lair, so they knew the tactics for all the bosses. Chaelot was a former member of TEO and he quickly took over the responsibility as raid leader in BWL.
I remember lots of problems with lag while we were learning this fight. Many guilds discussed migrating to another server, Mazrigos, and there was even a discussion or vote or something on our forums whether we should migrate as well. The world famous horde guild "Massive" chose to migrate during this hard time, but we decided to stick around and fortunately the lag got much better.
The tanks had the biggest challenge on this fight. They had to learn how to build up threat on Vael so that they would take over tanking in the right order. This was before threat meters so there was no way you could be sure that the right tank was next in line. The tanks simply had to try it over and over until they had a gut feeling about their threat and how to manage it. This boss introduced the "Curse of 1% wipes" in the guild shown in a video further below.
I remember something about Enimusha spilling coffee on himself at Vael somehow resulting in a wipe and the invention of the guild term "Coffee Wipe". Guild terms were common in those days - another one was "A Wolfman" which meant falling asleep with your head on the keyboard making you run forward into mobs and wiping the raid, and "A Windir" which meant falling off cliffs while tanking and causing wipes. Situations that had all happened at some point during our raids.
The credits at the end of the video shows many of the wipes we had before finally getting him down.

DESCRIPTION:
The trash between Vael and Broodlord Lashlayer was incredibly time consuming. First there was a series of trash mobs that required a lot more coordination than we had been used to in Molten Core. Then there was the "Supression Room" (or "Depression Room" as we started calling it). Clearing to Broodlord Lashlayer through the Depression Room with constant respawning mobs took so much time that we sometimes ended the raid early after a few tries on him because didn't want to bother clearing to him anymore.
I remember our first kill as very confusing and we didn't fully learn the fight until we had downed him a few times. He was the first boss that had a threat reduction knockback that had to be avoided by tanks and exploited by melee dps. Usually the tank would lose aggro at some point and another tank had to be ready to take over. I remember Chaelot giving a lecture on what he called an "aggro ceiling" on the fight, and that we somehow had to make sure we got him down before all tanks had reached this ceiling. I never fully understood what that meant, so I usually just held back on dps and paid attention to Denatus' orders when we sometimes had to stop dps completely and let tanks build up threat.
The first night we downed Broodlord we tried out Firemaw, mostly for fun, and were all very surprised when we got him down. After that night we struggled a bit in later raids getting Broodlord and Vael completely on farm status before we ventured further into BWL.
This was the first video I made that had a more humourous (silly) approach to raiding.

TEO_EbonrocAndFlamegor
DESCRIPTION:
The next two bosses seemed much easier compared to the first encounters in the instance. We actually got Ebonroc down on our very first attempt. This was despite a very chaotic start where he was tanked at the wrong place for a while. Somehow us warlocks had misunderstood where he was supposed to be tanked, so we had placed our imps close to the stairs in the room. This confused our main tank Wahoo, who started tanking at this position first, only to be told to move him to another spot in the middle of the fight.
Ebonroc had a nasty breath attack that hit the raid when Wahoo had to move him. In the video you can see that I got hit by the attack leaving me barely alive. Once he was placed at the right spot the fight was fairly simple, with the tanks coordinating their taunts and the rest of us just dps'ing.
We spent the next couple of evenings practicing on Flamegor and got him down as well in the same week. The first part of the video shows the clearing of the "Depression Room" before Broodlord Lashlayer, and after the credits there's a short teaser showing Chromaggus in his cage.

DESCRIPTION:
I remember that this fight required a lot more attention compared to most of the other fights after Vael. For dps it was mostly a line of sight fight, but others had very important roles. There was something about a second tank team that had to take over during the fight. There was a berserk that had to be tranq-shotted and a time stop ability that everyone had to be sure to get or the boss would switch to them. There was also something about people turning into mobs and us having to wait for them to get out of transformation before we could continue.
I remember being very annoyed that you usually had to go out of sight and hide when Chromaggus had the funny damage dealing debuffs on (shadow!). After killing Chromaggus a few times and not seeing the much-wanted Mantle of the Blackwing Cabal drop from Razorgore, I ended up in a bidding war for Nemesis Spaulders with Amanhis and spent most of my currency. Later I replaced them with the Mantle from Razorgore anyway, bleh...

DESCRIPTION:
This is the conclusion to our adventures in Blackwing Lair. Exactly one week after killing Chromaggus we had Nefarian down as well. I was very surprised that we got him down so quickly, and for me - in some way - it was a bit of an anti-climax. It had been such a thrill to clear this instance, and now that it was suddenly all over, what was now left to do for us? As I mention further down below, I actually went on a raid break a short while after clearing Blackwing Lair because of this.
At the end of the video a complete review of our progress through Blackwing Lair is shown. This part of the video still gives me goosebumps, especially as when we get to the Chromaggus and Nefarian part. Nothing I have raided since then has had that effect on me, so it really was something very special what we were doing back then.
On a funny sidenote, Apox - who was definetely part of the raid that killed Nefarian - somehow never made it into the credits in the video. Disappointed he mentioned it in a response to the video on the forums only to have Obscure reply "Well, are you sure you were there?". The reaction was not pretty :)

DESCRIPTION:
After clearing Blackwing I took a short break from the game thinking that I would probably never play again. Well, it didn't turn out that way - there's a longer explanation further below at the TEO_Superlame video. This was the first video I made after I returned to the game. The intro sequence is sort of an explanation why I had gone inactive and why I came back.
I remember us having fairly quick progress up until Princess Huhuran. I don't think we ever killed the Bug Trio in the hard ways. We never killed Ouro and Viscidus - at least not on the raids that I was part of.
This was the first video where I started using Adobe Premiere for some of the editing. Previously I had done all the editing in Windows Movie Maker, which was very simple and easy to learn. I couldn't get the flythrough sequence from Ironforge to Ahn'Qiraj to look good in Windows Movie Maker, so that particular part of the movie was done in Premiere. In later videos I would switch to Premiere exclusively and you can tell the difference in the use of fonts and effects when you compare the videos.
When I returned to the game I was bit quiet in the beginning in guild chat, so I don't think people knew exactly what my plan was. When I was frapsing the flythrough sequence I ran on foot from Cenarion Hold to the entrance to AQ40 and apparently I had walked past Denatus out in the desert without saying hello (I had my user interface hidden). When I had finished frapsing I could see a message from Denatus in guild chat stating "...and there's Xzar...running around...in the desert...not talking...". Today people would have thought that I had been botting or had been hacked.

DESCRIPTION:
I had toyed with the idea of making a trailer of some sort in front of the actual raid video - like you would see when you go to a cinema. I figured an obvious topic could be Jolt and his unfortunate ability to pull bosses and wipe raids. I'm a big fan of the original trailer to the movie "Jaws", so I decided to make a spoof of that. You can see the original trailer here. It was frapsed at Menethil Harbor and, ironically, right after Jolt jumped into the water he got aggro from a couple of sharks...
My plan was to have the second AQ40 video cover Princess Huhuran and the Twin Emperors. However, the twins proved to be more of a challenge than we had anticipated. They also had a bad habit of bugging - sometimes the caster twin would choose to go melee and sometimes they would just not work. We had many theories about how to avoid bugs. If I remember correctly, one of them was to have everyone run into the Twin Emperors room at the same time or something buggy would happen, I dunno.
As I was frapsing this AQ40 run they bugged again. We had to do a soft reset and leave the instance, so we decided to do a couple of Lords in Silithus. For some reason, Hemandk always had rods ready for summons. Immediately after downing the Lord in the south part of Silithus someone mentioned on Teamspeak that Ginnunga was getting ready to summon a Lord up north. We quickly decided to group up and gank them. We would wait for them to summon the boss, so that they would waste the mats and they would be busy when we charged. I remember hoping for some reaction from Ginnunga on the official realm forum after we had ganked them (incoming "TEO are noobs!" on the official forums).
Ganking Ginnunga in the desert is one of my absolute favorite moments when I think of my time in TEO.

DESCRIPTION:
We had many attempts on Twin Emperors before we finally managed to get them down. It came as a bit of a surprise to me that this attempt would be the one where they got killed, so I started frapsing very late in the fight. I remember saving up tons of DKP for when we finally got them down because I wanted the armor token they dropped, so that I could get the "Doomcaller's Circlet" head piece. Well, I got it, and my char is still wearing it when I occasionally log onto him.

DESCRIPTION:
This video began as a simple test of functions in Adobe Premiere. Compared to Windows Movie Maker I was able to make very neat transitions and panning effects. I got the idea of presenting the movie as a comic book from reading Obscures many posts about comics. In particular, when he described Galactus the Devourer, which I think was one of his favorite characters.
I had not planned on including much footage from the Twin Emperors kill, but since the earlier Twin Emperors video I had made was very short, I decided to combine the full comic and the full video of a Twin Emperors kill into one video. This is why it feels like two separate videos when you watch it. The credits sequence and "Where's Waldo" joke is just me messing around with panning settings and learning Adobe Premiere. Notice the screenshot during the credits where we are forming the letters TEO by lying down on the floor. We were in Blackwing Lair waiting to start on Ebonroc, when Olorin and I for some reason decided to lie down next to each other and others joined in.
TBC was going into beta test phase and there were many online contests where Blizzard was giving out beta-test accounts. Apox found a Norwegian contest and suggested that we submit this video and see what would happen. We decided to try it out, but for some reason we postponed our submission so that it became a "last minute" thing. Along with the submission Apox had to provide names of 10 or so people who would get the beta accounts, but we ended up being in such a hurry, that he didn't have all of our names to submit, so he just had to invent them. He knew that my name was "A. Lindqvist", but he didn't know my full first name. I think my first name became "Andreas" or "Anton" in that contest when it really is "Allan". Lots of run, regardless :)

This was my final raid video in TEO. I had originally planned to make it a series like the other videos, and they would all have special story around them like in this video. I'm not exactly sure how I got the idea that our raids should take place in animal butts. It was actually very challenging to get the right footage of the animals before they walked away. I wonder if other players noticed me running around for about 30 minute kneeling down behind animals.
I submitted this video to warcraftmovies for fun and got very positive feedback from people, saying that they had never seen anything quite like this before. I doubt they have seen anything like it since :)

It was our first year anniversary and we decided to have fun and storm the horde cities in a raid. We started out in Undercity but the horde side quickly found out what we were trying to do and gather up against us. We then regrouped and headed for Thunder Bluff and had a long attempt at one of the horde leaders before we were overrun. At that time I had never set foot in horde cities, so I was just trying my hardest to follow the others around.
Overall it was an incredibly entertaining but also very confusing way to celebrate the first year together :)

For our third year anniversary, Obscure planned a guild event where people would create gnome characters and see who could run from the starting area with their new characters from Dun Morogh to Stormwind. I was no longer in TEO at the time but I logged in on Xzar to witness the event and say hello to old guildies. I filmed the event and posted a short video on the guild forums.
At one point during the video one of the gnomes is doing an insane kiting run with a high level elemental after him. If I remember correctly, it was Nemus doing that kiting.

As we geared up in Blackwing Lair our dps took a significant step up compared to the first times we downed Ragnaros. I remember stories of the famous guild "The Axemen" who had cleared all of Molten Core in about an hour. One of the things that we especially admired was the fact that they killed Ragnaros way before he had summoned his first wave of sons. Finally we were getting to a point where we could do the same. We still spent an entire evening clearing the instance, though.

DESCRIPTION:
The first couple of times we killed Nefarian we didn't have the experience to divide classes the right way at the doorways while the fight was going on. We had to check which types of mobs would come through which doors so that we could split the raid properly and maximise our performance. This meant that every time we had cleared to Nefarian we would always have a quick wipe just to see which mobs we had. The first time we did this Chaelot suggested that we strip down to avoid repair bills and see who could stay alive the longest.
My friend Olorin had been afk when we agreed to check mobs like this, so he was not aware what was going on. If you understand Danish you might notice an annoyed whisper I get from him during the fight asking "what was the point of this?!".

I think we were nearing the end of the expansion when we finally started getting lucky with legendary drops. Wolfman got both Bindings of the Windseeker and we all gathered in Silithus to summon Prince Thunderaan. It was a surprisingly short fight considering all the work that had gone into getting the mats and the drops. I actually missed his death animation because I was busy strafing around trying to get the video to look cool. It was pointed out several times that "hmmm...you missed some of the kill" when I posted the video :)

DESCRIPTION:
One evening in AQ40 when we were farming Princess Huhuran someone managed to pull all mobs from the "Depression Room". We knew they were coming and we had no illusion of survival against them, so we just decided to give them hell before releasing and running back to clear the again. There were so many mobs that most people disconnected from the server because there was too much going on. I don't think we ever did find out who pulled them in the first place.
Back when we were clearing Blackwing Lair some people installed an annoying wipe addon that would play the tune from the Benny Hill show whenever someone typed /wipe. This is an homage to that addon.

DESCRIPTION:
Our boomkin "Chimp" made a career out of farming Firebrand Pyromancers in LBRS because they had a high chance of dropping the pattern for "Robe of the Archmage". Chimp posted a video of himself farming for it, where he stealthed past mobs in catform, snuck into a corner close to the Pyromancers and used his combination of healing and damage spells to get them down. When people saw the video they quickly agreed that only druids could solo those mobs because of stealth and heals.
I saw it as a challenge, though. I studied Chimps video and started preparing a combination of engineering items and potions to see if it was possible for me to get to the mobs and solo them. I only managed to do it once, but I documented it in a video and posted it on the guild forum. Never got the pattern drop, though.

You could get special "Libram" drops in Dire Maul that you could use to get head and leg enchants. The "Focus Libram" was especially sought after and could earn you a lot of money if you found one and sold it. The pylon elementals in Dire Maul West had a chance of dropping the librams and because you could both fear and banish as a warlock it was possible to solo farm the librams if you wanted. I tried it for a while but was never lucky enough to find one, so I quickly moved on to other ways of making gold. I did fraps one of my clearings though.

DESCRIPTION:
This was how I earned most of my gold in late vanilla. Another warlock in the guild, Amanhis, had sort of a contest going on with me. We would often farm Maraudon at the same time but in separate instances. Whenever one of us had finished a run we would whisper the other so we would know who was in the lead. We became so efficient at farming it that we could do 5 runs per hour. We would farm Princess Theradras, Tinkerer Gizlock and Rotgrip giving about 7-8 golds per run, so you could earn about 40 golds per hour doing this over and over.
I hated farming rep in Zul'Gurub so I farmed gold in Maraudon instead and bought the rep items at the auction house. It took about a weekend to get to exalted where I pretty much just did Maraudon over and over.

DESCRIPTION:
Back when we were trying to kill C'Thun in AQ40 I had already prepared an intro I would use for the video of our kill. It was sort of a sequal to the intro I had made for TEO_AhnQiraj2 with Jolt. Casino Royale had just been released, so I wanted to make a James Bond spoof with Jolt. We tried to imitate the famous bungee jump from the opening sequence to GoldenEye, but with our own twist. The guy that sneaks up on Jolt from behind the tree is Jin'do the Hexxer from Zul'Gurub. There had been an incident in Zul'Gurub where Jolt managed to pull him or bug him or something. People often made jokes about Jolt and Hexxer after that, so of course he had to be the one getting him in the video.
We never managed to get C'Thun down though, so the intro sequence almost never got released. I ended up posting it on our forums as an intro-sequence only.

After clearing Blackwing Lair I got really bored with the game. Me and my IRL friend Olorin made a post on our guild forums saying that we were going into casual mode and would not raid anymore. We quit the game for a while, but I kept spying on the forums, though. One evening while I was going through old frapsed footage I found this weird clip from a Chromaggus wipe in Blackwing Lair. I put together a small video and posted it on the forum with the title "I'm bored..."
Somehow that sparked some interest in the game and we both started raiding again. The intro to TEO_AhnQiraj1, which was the first movie I made after I started raiding again, tries to explain what I was going through at the time.

CThun
DESCRIPTION:
C'Thun in AQ40 was a very frustrating boss for the guild. There was very little room for mistakes in the fight. Sometimes we would wipe before even getting his into room. Everyone in the raid had to play flawlessly for us to succeed, and that rarely happened, so we never managed to get him down before the expansion. People got demotivated by the many wipes on him and they stopped signing for raids. We tried many things to prevent this - I remember Obscure promising a huge amount of dkp to raidmembers that got the first kill. I tried getting people to sign by sneaking comments about it into the videos I made, for example the ending to TEO_AhnQiraj3.
I also made this spoof of the fight as an attempt to motivate people. Shamelessly stolen from one of my favorite moments from "The Office". This was the first video where I took real life footage and added subtitles and nameplates to give it a different meaning. This was before some other guys made the famous "Hitler gets banned from Xbox Live" video. Later I made a lot of these videos in a Danish guild I joined after TEO - they are in Danish, though, and they poke fun at situations where you "had to be there", so they would probably not make any sense to non-guildmembers :)

DESCRIPTION:
On our guild forums there were often discussions about class balance. Usually it was caused by rock, paper, scissors in pvp, where you would complain about the classes that usually had the advantage against you, and defend yourself against complaints from other classes that you had an advantage against them. Some things never change, it seems.
I remember a particular heated discussion that started with warriors complaining about three minute mages, which changed into a rogue versus casters argument, and finally turned into an all-out war between casters and melee - with pretty much everyone voicing their opinion and people getting very angry at each other.
In the end, there was just no point discussing those things, and people starting making fun of it instead. Obscure would often post a reply titled "Whine Me A River" showing Justin Timberlake at a waterfall. I would post this video, whenever I had the chance. There's a hidden surprise in it, if you pay close attention.
